Evil Bone Water

Happy Halloween week! We couldn’t resist featuring a product with the spookiest name on our shelf.

Don’t worry, there’s nothing haunted in this bottle. “Evil Bone Water” is the playful English name for Zheng Gu Shui, a traditional Chinese herbal liniment. The name fits the season, but it really means “get the evil out of the bones”: clearing out the stubborn aches, stiffness, and lingering pain that settle into muscles and joints.

This topical blend is made with camphor, menthol, notoginseng (tian qi), cinnamon bark, and other traditional herbs. Together they cool and warm, get local circulation moving, and help with bruising, sprains, and sore, achy spots. Many of our patients love it for sports injuries, overworked muscles, and that creaky feeling that comes from too much sitting or too much doing.

How to use it: Either spray directly on affected area or soak a piece of gauze or flannel, apply it to the sore area, and let it absorb for 30 to 90 minutes. Settle in with a good book (or a Halloween movie ) while it works. It’s for external use only, and it can stain, so keep it away from your favorite clothes and linens.

Ask us about it at your next visit.
