Why I decided to try Microneedling: I finally decided to try microneedling after hearing that Full Moon Acupuncture had added it to their offerings. I’ve been seeing Traci as my acupuncturist for about eight years, and I fully trust her. It’s also been fun watching her own microneedling journey unfold during my appointments. My skin had been looking dull, with acne scars and fine lines creeping in—now that I'm on the other side of 40, it felt like the right time for a refresh.

One Week Out

I booked the appointment, excited but also a little apprehensive. I had no idea what to expect.

The Day Before

I got a call from the Full Moon Acupuncture explaining the process, recovery time, and what to expect. When they mentioned the possibility of using lidocaine, I felt a bit nervous—it sounded more intense than I had anticipated. Lidocaine can desensitize the skin before a treatment, but Traci and Suzanne prefer to use a CBD facial oil, so I went with that option..

Treatment Day

The moment I walked in, the calming energy of Full Moon Acupuncture put me at ease. The smells (where do they find such amazing products?!), the quiet, and the added acupuncture made the experience even more grounding. Traci walked me through everything, step by step. She compared the sensation of microneedling to a cat’s tongue—though, being allergic, I wouldn’t know!

Traci used a product with CBD oil (instead of lidocaine), which worked beautifully. She applied the oil with gua sha massage. She cleansed my skin, sprayed a toner, and applied a stem cell serum. The needling was done with a collagen boosting serum and hyaluronic acid. The treatment wasn’t painful—just a bit more sensitive on my forehead than on my cheeks and neck, so she adjusted the intensity accordingly. Kiri at the front desk went over after care reminded me what to avoid and sent me home with a pouch filled with aftercare products so I could continue the facial care at home.

That Evening

I went to a school event, fully expecting people to comment on my face. No one did, even though my skin was very red and peeling in a few spots. (I learned later, it wasn't actually my skin peeling, but rather the hyaluronic acid that was drying and flaking off.)Maybe they chalked it up to the random heatwave we'd had? Traci had given me a calming serum, which worked wonders. I was ready to tell everyone about microneedling and Traci’s magic, but instead, I felt like I was in on a secret they hadn’t yet discovered.

The Day After

My face was super red, and my skin tingled—like something was trying to escape my pores. With my naturally sensitive skin, I felt a little nervous but trusted the process. I was also exhausted—my body was clearly working to heal and regenerate. After 24 hours, I could start using the microneedling products Traci recommended, and I was counting down the hours until I could apply them. They smelled incredible and had an instant calming effect on my skin.

(These are the mineral-based sunscreens Traci recommended. Choose from untinted or a range of shades from light to deep.)

Two Days Later

I woke up to significantly calmer skin. Interestingly, my stomach completely released everything (apparently, that’s a thing!). When I looked in the mirror, most of the redness had already faded.

Three Days Later

I met a friend for a drink, and as soon as I sat down, she immediately commented on my glowing skin. We've known each other for years, and she’s never once mentioned my skin before—so that felt like a win!

One Week Later

The compliments keep rolling in. My acne scars are fading, my skin is smoother, younger, and truly radiant. I’m already counting down the days until my next session!
